Nadien is thrilled to be working on this tremendous piece with this amazing cast and crew! Special Thanks to Marianne Copithorne for all of her beautiful encouragement and support.

Marianne Copithorne

Director

Marianne is honored to join Theatre Network’s creative team this season and direct Palace of the End by Judith Thompson. Recent directing credits include Little Shop of Horrors and Kitchen Witches for the Mayfield Dinner Theatre; As You Like It, Hamlet, Love’s Labor’s Lost, and The Merchant of Venice for The Freewill Shakespeare Festival, Perfect Pie, Faithless, Habitat and Choke for Theatre Network; The Knowing Bird for Alberta Theatre Projects; The Double Inconstancy for Studio Theatre at the Timms; The Enigma Variations for Shadow Theatre; and Wait Until Dark for Keyano College. Marianne was recently appointed Artistic Director of the Freewill Shakespeare Festival.
Recent acting credits include The Irrelevant Show for CBC Radio; Winter’s Tale and The Two Gentlemen of Verona for Freewill Shakespeare Festival; and the Vile Governess and Other Psychodramas and Fever Land for Teatro La Quindicina.

Anna Davidson

Stage Manager

Anna Davidson is inspired and honoured to be a part of this work. Previously, Anna has Stage Managed the wild independent spectacular Wilkommen in Spreepark; Le Cadeau d’Einstein, Fort Mac and La Caravane for L’Uni Theatre, and Apprentice Stage Managed The December Man (Citadel Theatre) and, Carmen (Edmonton Opera). Other credits include The Sound of Stars Reflecting (Nextfest ’07), The Crossroads of Fifth and Madison (Nextfest ’06), Crazy For You and On The Town (MacEwan College). Anna is also a freelance lighting technician, and loves to play frisbee!

Lisa Hancharek

Costume Designer

Lisa is tickled to be designing once again at Theatre Network! A graduate from University of Alberta’s MFA Theatre Design Program (2005), Lisa spends her time designing between Winnipeg and Edmonton. Her next projects include Sailor’s Song (Trunk Theatre), Little Munsch on the Prairie (Prairie TheatreExchange, Wpg) and Apples and Oranges (Concrete Theatre). Lisa would like to thank Marianne, the talented cast and crew, design colleagues - David and Matthew, and the fine folks at Network for making her a part of this experience!

Some of her most recent design credits include: set and costume design for Alias Godot (Theatre Network), production design for 25 Plays About…Love (Cowardly Lion Productions, Edm. Fringe), assistant set and lighting designer on As You Like It and Richard III (Freewill Players), assistant production designer for Misery (Theatre Network), production design for Lonesome West (Atlas Theatre).

Matthew Skopyk

Composer/Sound Designer

Matthew Skopyk is an Edmonton based Sound Designer and Composer. Recent Design/Composition credits include: Richard III (Free Will Players), Spreepark the Musical (Mischief and Mayhem) and Something Red (Vault). A past graduate of the U of A Technical Threatre Production program (B.F.A Graduate 2006 With Distinction), Matthew excels at software/hardware manipulation, allowing for new realms of possibility in the theatre through manipulation of data. New works include: wireless performer-worn sensors; allowing for performer control over technical aspects of a production, a glove-based three-dimensional-panner for Sound Designers and a MIDI Cello. Matthew has worked as a FOH mixer for companies such as Free Will Players and the Catalyst Theatre. Matthew currently resides as the Head of Audio for the Drama Department at the University of Alberta.

Judith Thompson

Playwright

Judith Thompson lives in Toronto with her husband and five children, dog and two cats. She enjoys walking in the wilderness, cross country skiing. Playwriting credits include: THE SECRET CREED, HABITAT, MY PYRAMID, ENOCH ARDEN ON SORAUREN, CAPTURE ME, PERFECT PIE, SLED, YELLOW CANARIES, THE LEAVES FOREVER, LION IN THE STREETS, I AM YOURS, WHITE BITING DOG, and THE CRACKWALKER. Film and Television writing credits include: BITE THE STARS (Movie Central), PERFECT PIE (Rhombus Media), LOST AND DELIRIOUS (Cite-Amerique), LES BITCHES (Chesler Productions), and TEENAGE GIRLS SAVE THE EARTH (The Film Works Ltd.). Judith received the Order of Canada in 2005. Other awards include: the Toronto Arts Award, Writing & Editing Award, the Governor General’s Award (The Other Side of Dark, White Biting Dog), the Chalmers Award (I Am Yours, Lion in the Streets) and the Susan Smith Blackburn Award (Palace of the End). Judith is currently an Instructor of Acting, Playwriting and Screenwriting at the University of Guelph.

John Wright

Dr. David Kelly

A 35 year veteran of the Canadian Stage, John has appeared across the country from Halifax’s Neptune Theatre to the Vancouver Playhouse.

John is delighted to be back with Theatre Network where he has appeared in A Skull in Connemara, Excavations and Midlife under Bradley’s expert direction.

2007-2008 theatrical engagements include The Mighty Carlins for WWT, Still Desire You for WCTC and Alberta Theatre Projects, Fire for the Citadel and CanStage, Richard III and As you Like it for the Freewill Shakespeare Festival, The Flyfisher’s Companion for Shadow Theatre, Oliver and A Christmas Carol for the Citadel Theatre.

He is also a regular TV & Film performer whose credits include CBC Opening Night, Chasing the Chameleon, Mentors MacGyver, The Beachcombers, Danger Bay, Ray Bradbury Theatre, Small Sacrifices and the features Deadly Arrangement, Walls and The Assassination of Jesse James.

John is humbled to be part of Judith Thompson’s very important work.
